It’s Thursday night around 9:00 PM. I haven’t been home since 7:00 AM and I’m stuck in class for another hour. When I get home, I have a list of things a mile long to do, but I will probably just go to bed.
Being an adult is tiring. I graduated from ASU less than a year ago, and since then, my life has changed dramatically.
I used to be that person who slept in until noon, ate burritos at two in the morning, and would never miss a show or social event. Now, I work 40 hours a week at a desk job and occasionally make appearances at nami tsoft tserve and coffee. I miss shows because I fall asleep early, and I spend most of my time at home with my cat, step-cat, and boyfriend.
Now, don’t get me wrong — I’m very happy. I love my jobs and personal projects that I’m involved in outside of work. (Curious about what I do? Add me on Facebook & like the page Keep Phoenix Square) In addition to personal projects, I’m involved in a handful of other projects/bands/whatever. Treasure Mammal is one of them.
I’ve been a member of Treasure Mammal for a little over a year and a half. Our current line up has 6-8 members, of those members, 5 of us (Abe, Ryan, Matt, Jef, and I) are leaving Arizona tomorrow evening and heading to Flagstaff with the final destination of Austin. Every member going on tour this year has a full time job or is a full time student and is involved in other projects as well. We’re all really busy people who take the time to put our love and energy into this insane band that for me has personally become a healthy escape from reality. To be honest — I can’t wait to leave. Everything in my life has become a little too routine and I’m ready to shake things up.
Class is wrapping up in a few moments, so I’ll just leave you with my to-do list:
-grocery shopping // get kitty litter
-give James $15
-drop off pickles for pickle project
-meet up with Simon
Now that I’ve bored you all to death, expect more interesting updates from here on out.
